Jefferson Highway

The Jefferson Highway is a highway that runs North to South from Winnipeg Canada to New Orleans Louisiana. It is named after Thomas Jefferson and was established by the Jefferson Highway Association in 1915. It was one of the first highways in North America and it is the oldest highway in Oklahoma. The route was described as the "all tear vacation route of America". The Jefferson Highway is just another chapter in the history of Atoka Oklahoma.
